All are invited to join Greene County Democrats Saturday, May 10, in a peaceful demonstration march across the Veterans Memorial Overpass on N. Elm St in Jefferson. The themes for the day are the Power of Hope and the Power of the People.
Participants are welcome to make signs to carry during the march. However, please focus on current issues and avoid derogatory language.
Marchers should meet at 12 noon on the sidewalk at the south end of the overpass to march together across the overpass.
Persons who don’t already have a sign made can do so from 9 to 10:30 am at 306 W. McKinley St, just west of the south end of the overpass. Blank white signs and thick-tipped markers will be available.
From 11 am to 11:45 (or noon) Iowa Senator Sarah Trone Garriott will hold a forum at the Welcome Center at Thomas Jefferson Gardens. She will discuss recently passes legislation and her intention to run for Congress to represent the Third District. She will also answer questions. The peaceful march will take place after Sen Trone Garriott speaks.
